Stinger CellPipe 50S

CellPipe 50s

The CellPipe™ 50S is an ATM-over-SDSL router/bridge that utilizes existing single pair copper wiring to transmit and receive data at speeds up to 2.3 Mbps. It accelerates applications such as Internet and intranet access, Web-based research, videoconferencing, voice-over-IP, e-commerce, multi-media, Web hosting, and more. Based on the award-winning Pipeline technology, this full-featured, cell-based router delivers all of the features and functionality necessary for making high-quality, high-speed, and high-bandwidth remote network connections. The CellPipe 50S also accommodates up to 21,000 feet of twisted pair wiring between itself and xDSL central office equipment (COE), such as the Lucent Stinger™ DSL access concentrator. This is a full 10,000 feet more than conventional SDSL supports, allowing ISPs and carriers to reach more customers.

Compact unit brings high-speed SDSL connectivity to a wider geographic area

The versatile CellPipe 50S offers the latest SDSL technology in a unit that fits easily on any desktop. Because it sends and receives data at the same rate in both directions, the CellPipe 50S is ideal for collaborative computing, videoconferencing, and other applications in which identical upstream and downstream speeds are advantageous. Users can connect to as many as eight different locations simultaneously to send files, browse the Web, upload graphics, or to simply read email. The CellPipe 50S takes advantage of rate-adaptive SDSL-the ability to automatically determine a possible data rate based on line quality. This frees carriers from manually setting the data rate for customers during installation. The data rate will be set to the highest rate possible for the line quality.

Concurrent routing and bridging ensures efficient connectivity to all LANs and the Internet

Concurrent routing and bridging eliminates the need for two separate devices by providing one configurable solution for accessing any LAN and the Internet.

  • IP and IPX routing
  • BCP standard multiprotocol bridging
  • PPP over ATM over ADSL (RFC2364)
  • 10 Mbps Ethernet
  • RIP, RIP2 and static route support
  • 8 VCs per port
  • VC multiplexing
  • ILC encapsulation
  • SecureConnect™ Firewall

Plug-and-Play capability saves time

Plug-and-play enables the CellPipe 50S to obtain its configuration using Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) through any router or bridge that can terminate a VC or PPP connection residing on an ISP's network. Because this feature is already enabled when a CellPipe is installed, users can get their CellPipe 50S units up and running with minimum time and frustration.

Network Address Translation capabilities ensure cost-effective Internet access

With Network Address Translation (NAT) capability, end users can utilize unregistered network IP addresses to access the Internet. This eliminates the cost and complexity involved with obtaining and owning dedicated IP addresses exclusively. By transparently assigning an unregistered address to the CellPipe 50S, NAT also allows users to utilize an unregistered address for the duration of a session.

Comprehensive security for iron-clad remote networking

Support for user authentication makes it easy to manage the security of large-scale remote access applications.

  • PAP and CHAP authentication profiles supported
  • Token-based security with support for products from different vendors
  • Transmit and receive packet filtering
  • Integrated SecureConnect™ firewall
  • Telnet/SNMP management
